This free knitting pattern is ideal for Level 4 - Intermediate Level Knitters

Designed by the talented Amy Bahrt, the Sweets Afghan Pattern surely makes for a comfy, sweet substitute for the kiddos. Whether it’s nap time or playtime, this charming afghan will keep your tyke company.

Making this afghan involves working back and forth in rows on a circular needle. In fact, the pattern is ideal for intermediate knitters to work on.

Moreover, it comes in one size, measuring about 29 inches by 33 inches. That’s approximately 73.5 cm by 84 cm if you prefer to use the metric system.

The original afghan was made using the discontinued modern baby yarn. However, you can easily substitute any no. 3 light-weight acrylic and nylon yarn.

You will also need either a size US 6 circular needle, 36 inches long. That’s 4.25 mm and 91.5 cm respectively if you prefer to use the metric system.

Finally, after finishing the decorative patterns, you will then need to weave in the yarn ends. This method will give your newly knitted afghan a neat finish.

If you like to learn how to do this technique, you can check out our fully illustrated tutorial for weaving in the yarn ends. You can look it up here: Learn How to Weave in Yarn Ends.
