Block stitch patterns are great for creating nice and interesting textures in your knitting projects and this Swedish Block Stitch Pattern is no exception.
Just like most Knit and Purl stitch pattern combinations, you can easily use this stitch pattern to substitute garter or stockinette stitches in a garment.
This particular version or a block stitch pattern is from Scandinavia. In fact, as the name indicates, it is from Sweden.
In this pattern, some squares are enlarged and others are reduced. This produces a sort of cross-rib which is very attractive.
Technically, this is not a reversible pattern. However, the reverse side of this stitch pattern also produces a nice and interesting texture which would be lovely in a “reversible” scarf or something similar.
In fact, it is a stitch pattern that works very well for more sporty garments for young as well as old.
And best of all – this Swedish Block Stitch Pattern is very easy to knit.
