Brought to you by the talented Teresa Chorzepa, the Royson Hat is a classy knitted piece that’s worked in rounds from the lower edge upwards. It’s a delightfully warm hat that will look nice with any outfit.

A finished hat measures approximately 20 inches in circumference and 12.5 inches in height. That’s about 51 cm and 32 cm respectively if you prefer to use the metric system. Note that the material is stretchable, so it can fit a range of sizes.

To make this hat, you will need the Basic Stitch Anti Pilling Yarn, which is an excellent choice if you are making fabrics that will be exposed to wear and tear. Spun into a premium 4-ply acrylic, this yarn is extra soft, pill-resistant, and features excellent stitch definition.

Furthermore, you will be needing a set of 4 double-pointed needles size US 9. That’s 5.5 mm if you prefer to use the metric system.

Working the pattern requires you to make the k2tog or knit 2 stitches together, which is a basic decrease technique that slants to the right.

If you like to learn how to make the k2tog, you can check out our fully illustrated tutorial for this technique that you’ll find helpful. You can find the tutorial here: Basic Right-Slanting Decrease (K2tog).
