Another stunning pattern by designer Irina Poludnenko of the Lion Brand team, the Rio Rancho Knit Cardigan is a sight to behold. Working on this piece involves working in five pieces – back, left and right fronts, and two sleeves.

In addition, it is an easy pattern, ideal for beginner knitters to work on.

Furthermore, it’s available in one size, measuring about 62 inches in the bust and 19.5 inches in length. That’s 157.5 cm and 49.5 cm respectively if you prefer to use the metric system.

This pattern uses Lion Brand’s Shawl in a Ball Yarn, a worsted-weight, 2-ply 100% acrylic yarn. This yarn came in jewel tones or neutrals with a brushed mohair look.

The original piece was created using the discontinued yarn. However, you can easily substitute any acrylic yarns with a weight of 4.

Moreover, you will also be needing a US size 7 circular knitting needles, 29 inches in length. That’s 4.5 mm and about 73.5 cm respectively if you prefer to use the metric system.

To work this pattern, you will need to make the kfb or the Bar Increase. It’s a simple, left-leaning increase method.
