To make this pattern, you will need. DROPS Andes is a  2 strands yarn made of a traditional combination of 65% Peruvian Highland wool and 35% superfine alpaca. It is a luxuriously soft yarn that is perfect for garments, shawls, and accessories.

Furthermore, you will be needing a US size 11 circular or double-pointed knitting needle. That’s 8 mm needles if you prefer to use the metric system.

When making this piece, you will be using the k2tog knitting decrease. The k2tog or knit two together is a basic right slanting decrease that is quite common throughout knitting patterns.

If you’re not familiar with the k2tog decrease, we have an illustrated, step-by-step tutorial for it that you’ll surely find helpful. You can find this tutorial here: Learn How to Make a Basic Right-Slanting Decrease (K2tog).

You can also use the simpler long-tail cast-on method instead of the provisional cast-on. The long-tail cast-on is probably the most popular of all the cast-on methods. It is suitable for many types of knitting projects.

We have an illustrated tutorial for the long-tail cast-on if you want to learn it. You can find this tutorial here: Learn How to Do A Long-Tail Cast on.
