Designed by the talented Joan Laws, this lovely hat can also be accentuated with a clip-on flower barrette.

The pattern comes with size for babies, toddlers, and children, with a head circumference measuring 16 inches, 18 inches, and 20 inches respectively.

That’s 40 cm, 45 cm, and 50 cm in the metric system.

To make this hat, you will need Lily’s Sugar ’n Cream Yarn, one of the most popular cotton yarn and one of the ultimate favorites in knitting projects. This classic worsted weight yarn is widely known for its high absorbency, making it ideal for home decors and dishcloths.

You will also need a size US 6 circular knitting needle. That is a 4 mm needle if you prefer using metric units.

The pattern requires you to work the k2tog. The k2tog or knitting two stitches together is a basic right slanting decrease that is pretty common throughout knitting patterns.

If you like to learn how to do the k2tog, you can check out our fully illustrated tutorial for this technique here: Basic Right-Slanting Decrease (K2tog).

Moreover, you will also be doing the yo increase. It is an increase technique that leans neither to the right nor to the left. You can learn how to do the yo increase by checking out our illustrated tutorial here: Open Yarnover Increase (YO).
