The Moss Stitch Pattern is probably the most popular knitted stitch pattern. It is a broken-rib-texture pattern that is worked over just 4 rows.

In fact, this popular stitch pattern is often used to point up cable patterns.

Furthermore, it is a fully reversible pattern, so it is perfect for scarfs, afghans and baby blankets.

However, it is important not to confuse this stitch pattern with the Seed Stitch Pattern. The Seed Stitch pattern is often referred to as the Moss Stitch in knitting patterns from outside the US.

The Seed Stitch Pattern changes from knit to purl stitches on every row. Conversely, the Moss Stitch Pattern changes from knit to purl stitches on every other row.
