From the talented designers at Lion Brand, the Heirloom Cables Baby Sweater is a delightfully comfy fall and winter apparel for babies and toddlers up to 2 years old.

It’s a buttoned, long-sleeved sweater worked with a lovely cable pattern. In fact, it it’s an excellent choice of outfit for chilly days.

A finished sweater has chest measurements of 20, 22, and 24 inches, and length measurements of 10, 11, and 12 inches. If you prefer to use the metric system, that’s about 51 cm, 56 cm, and 61 cm across the chest, and 25.5 cm, 28 cm, and 30.5 cm in length.

To make this sweater, you will need Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice: Linen Yarn, which is a worsted-weight yarn made in 100% premium acrylic. This easy-care, silky-soft premium basic yarn comes in a range of gorgeous shades. It’s an excellent choice for making afghans, scarves, and sweaters.

Moreover, you will need US sizes 7 and 8 knitting needles. That’s 4.5 mm and  5 mm respectively if you prefer the metric system.

In working the pattern, one of the techniques you need to do is the k2tog or knit 2 stitches together. It’s a basic decrease technique that slants to the right.

If you like to learn how to make the k2tog, you can check out our fully illustrated tutorial for this technique that you’ll find helpful. You can find the tutorial here: Basic Right-Slanting Decrease (K2tog).
