This free knitting pattern is ideal for Level 4 - Intermediate Level Knitters

Designed by the talented Melissa Burt, these adorable and stylish baby socks perfectly complement your baby’s dress.

Furthermore, the pattern comes in a single size and will fit most 3- to 6-month-old infants. This footwear is knitted in the round with double-pointed knitting needles, perfect for confident beginners who would like to try out a knit-in-the-round baby sock.

So, to make these socks, you will need a Shine Sport Yarn, a lustrous and easy-care yarn made of 60% Pima cotton and 40% Modal natural beechwood fiber. The yarn is delightfully soft and is perfect for babies and children’s wearables. Best of all, it is machine washable.

You will also need a US 3 double pointed needle. That is 3.25 mm needles, if you use the metric system.

Furthermore, you will need to do knitting decreases when doing these baby socks. The p2tog, k2tog, and ssk are the ones used in this pattern. P2tog stands for purl 2 stitches together, it is a right slanting decrease and the reverse side equivalent of the k2tog.

If you’re not that familiar with the p2tog and would like to learn how to do it, we have an excellent tutorial that you can check. You can find this tutorial here: Purled Right-Slanting Decrease (P2TOG).

The k2tog, as mentioned, is the reverse of the p2tog, and you can find our step-by-step tutorial for k2tog here: Basic Right-Slanting Decrease (K2tog).

The ssk is the decrease, that is a pair of the k2tog. It stands for slip one, slip one, knit two together. You can find the tutorial for ssk here: Basic Left-Slanting Decrease (SSK).
