Easy Stripes Blanket – A Perfect Beginner Afghan

Designed by Toni Carr, this beautiful afghan comes in a single size. It measures approximately 39 inches square. That is 99 cm square if you are using the metric system.

Using Knit Picks’ Brava Worsted, the afghan is knitted in the flat using US8 circular knitting needles. That is 5 mm needles if you prefer metric.

You’ll be using several basic knitting techniques on making this project. These Include Bar Increase (KFB) and basic decreases like Knit 2 together (K2tog) and (SSK) or slip one, slip one, knit two together.

Striped Garter Stitch Throw – A Great Knit in the Round Afghan

This lovely afghan is the perfect beginner project. Great if you want to try your hands on a knit in the flat afghan blanket

The pattern comes in a single size. It measures approximately 36 inches wide and 41 inches long. That is 91 cm wide and 104 cm long in metric units.

Using Plymouth Yarn’s Homestead, it is knitted on circular knitting needles size US10. That is 6 mm needles if you prefer metric.

Furthermore, you’ll be using Garter Stitch to give the afghan a lovely texture. You will also be introduced to the Long-Tail Cast On, a popular cast on method you’ll encounter on many knitting projects.

In addition, you are also going to use some basic knitting skills like Joining Yarn at the End and Weaving on Ends.

Textured Throw – Most Lovely of the Free Afghan Knitting Patterns

This vibrant afghan is another easy knit project that is worked in the flat.

The afghan pattern comes in a single size. It measures approximately 51 inches wide and 41.5 inches long. If you prefer metric units, that is 130 cm wide and 105 cm long.

Using Schachenmayr’s Merino Extrafine Cotton 120, this lovely afghan is knitted using US5 or US6 circular knitting needles. That is 3.75 mm and 4 mm needles if you use the metric system.

Included in this pattern are both the diagram and written instructions, great for trying out reading a diagram for the first time.

Furthermore, you’ll be able to try some basic increases like Yarn-Over (Yo) and Make 1 knit (M1k). As well as decrease technique like (K2tog) or knit 2 together.
