Designed by the talented Irina Poludnenko, this beautiful blanket is knitted in one piece using the feather and fan stitch pattern.

The pattern is both written and charted so you can choose whichever form of instruction you are more comfortable with.

The afghan pattern is available in one size and once completed measures approximately 48 inches wide and about 54 inches long. That’s roughly 122 cm wide and 137 cm long if you prefer using metric units.

To make the afghan, you will need Lion Brand’s Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn. It is a soft and easy-care super bulky weight yarn that is made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Making it a great yarn for knitting beautiful accessories and cozy blankets, like this piece we’re making.

You will also need a size US 13 circular knitting needle. That’s a 9 mm needle if you are using the metric system.

Moreover, you’ll be utilizing the m1 and yo increase techniques when working on this project. The m1 is an almost invisible increase that is often used after a rib. It can be either right-leaning or left-leaning.

The yo increase or yarnover increase is an increase typically use in lace patterns. We have a tutorial for this technique if you want to learn it. You can find that here: Learn the Open Yarnover Increase (YO).
