This free knitting pattern is ideal for Level 4 - Intermediate Level Knitters

Designed by the creative Emily Guise, the Ayre Hat not only warms you up comfortably against the cold but also adds a perky flair to your ensemble. It also comes with an adorable pom-pom that you can make in a matching color.

The pattern comes in 3 different sizes. A finished hat measures 19 inches, 21 inches, and 23 inches in circumference, and 9 inches in length.

That’s about 48 cm, 53 cm, 5.58 cm, and 23 cm respectively if you prefer to use the metric system.

To make this hat, you will need the Tuff Puff Yarn, a super bulky yarn that is made from 100% wool and comes in gorgeous vibrant colors. This yarn is popular for its resilience and wonderfully wooly texture, making it ideal for this toasty hat.

You will also need a size US 17 double-pointed and a circular knitting needle. That’s an 11 mm needle if you use the metric system.

In addition, you will need to work the pattern using the k2tog decrease technique, which is a basic decrease that slants to the right.

If you like to learn how to do make the k2tog, be sure to check out our fully illustrated tutorial for it. You can find the tutorial here: Basic Right-Slant Decrease (K2tog).
