The Alternative Rib Stitch Pattern is a really lovely Knit and Purl stitch pattern. In fact, it looks a bit like a combination of a rib and a basketweave pattern.
Whereas this is not technically a reversible stitch pattern, the reverse side is just as delightful as the front.
As a matter of fact, many might have difficulties in picking the front of the fabric. This makes it a perfect pattern for beginners who would like to impress with their newfound knitting skills.
Conversely, even though it is called a rib pattern, it does not have the stretch or pull as a “normal” rib pattern.
Therefore, our favorite knitting projects for this stitch pattern includes washcloths and baby blankets. Or why not try it out on a cowl pattern?
However, do not limit yourself to just these types of projects. You can easily substitute any stockinette pattern for this gorgeous rib pattern.
